No need to buy panic: oil companies give public assurances of adequate fuel stocks

The Oil Corporation of India (IOC), the country’s largest oil firm, on Friday (May 9, 2025) said that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel and cooking gas LPG are available in the country and there is no need to buy fuel.

Social media was filled with posts and videos, showing people in queue in petrol pumps, extended to stock fuel to increase tension between India and Pakistan. The IOC said in a post on X, “Indian oil has sufficient fuel stock across the country and our supply lines are running smoothly.”

“There is no need to buy terror, fuel and LPG are easily available at all our outlets.” Buying panic was mostly seen in states with Pakistan border.

Many cities of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab implemented blackouts by the armed forces of Pakistan after launching several attacks using drones and other sages with the entire western border on the night of 8-9 May. The Indian Army stated that the attacks were “effectively repeated”.

They were afraid of increasing stress and nervousness.

The IOC said, “Help us to serve us better to stay calm and avoid unnecessary crowd. It will basically run our supply lines and ensure uninterrupted fuel access to all,” IOC said.

India hit nine sites in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir and Pakistan on Wednesday, its deepest attack within Pakistan in decades, two weeks ago in retaliation for a deadly terrorist attack. Subsequently, Pakistan tried to highlight drones and missiles on Indian military goals in more than a dozen cities and towns, many of them were homes for air force bases.

IOC advised citizens to remain calm and avoid unnecessary congestion, which would help the company to run its supply lines originally and ensure uninterrupted fuel access to all.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) assured in a statement that adequate petrol, diesel, CNG and LPG are available in their vast nationwide networks.

“All BPCL fuel stations and LPG distributors in their nationwide networks are working smoothly and fully equipped to meet the energy needs of consumers. There is no reason to buy anxiety or nervousness. Our supply chain operations are strong and skilled, which all customers are urged to remain calm.
